Two militants were killed on Monday as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir.

An 'Operation Bahadur' was launched by the Army on Sunday night after an attempt was made by the infiltrators to cross the L0C in the Poonch sector.

The Army on Monday said it foiled an infiltration bid and killed two militants at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu.

“Operation Bahadur #Poonch Sector. Major Infiltration Bid Eliminated in a joint operation by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice during the night of 17 Jul 23 in Poonch Sector. Two infiltrator have been eliminated. Search operations are in Progress,” the White Knight Corps said in a tweet.

According to defence spokesperson in Jammu Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, J&K Police also participated in the operation launched last night.

“In this Operation Bahadur, two infiltrators have been eliminated,” he said.

Meanwhile, search operations are underway in the area.

Repeated infiltration attempts were witnessed in Poonch and Rajouri, also called Pir Panjal sectors. However, most of the attempts have been foiled.

Of late, with deadly attacks on the security forces, militants are more focused on Pir Panjal areas. Over 20 security forces personnel died in one of the attacks in the area.

On January 1, seven civilians, including two minors, were killed after militants attacked Upper Danghri in Rajouri. Since the attacks, the security has been beefed up in the minority areas in the Pir Panjal region.
