In the latest development, Pradipsinh Vaghela, the key BJP leader has resigned from his party post of state general secretary in Gujarat. The BJP has not officially commented on the resignation yet.

Vaghela was also in charge of the party's state headquarters, Shree Kamalam in Gandhinagar.

Though the reason behind the resignation ahead of the Lok Sabha elections is unknown, rumours are rife that it was an aftermath of the alleged rebellion against Gujarat's BJP president C. R. Paatil.

Recently, three party workers were arrested by the Surat Crime Branch for allegedly defaming Paatil. He was accused of corruption over allocation of portfolios to various party leaders, reported The Indian Express.

The action was followed based on the case filed by BJP MLA from Choryasi constituency, Sandeep Desai.

Another arrest was also made earlier relating to similar incident of defaming Paatil's image.

Earlier in April, general secretary Bhargav Bhatt was relieved from the top post by the party high command.

With Vaghela's resignation, the party has only two general secretaries left now, Rajni Patel and Vinod Chavda.

Vaghela was appointed as the state general secretary on August 2016.
