India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day. To commemorate this event, the tricolour was hoisted onboard the Indian Naval Warships, INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata at Sydney, Australia. The ships are in Australia to participate in Exercise-Malabar 2023, ANI tweeted. The ships will take part in the 10-day Malabar exercise alongside the navies of the US, Japan and Australia.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in the meantime, hoisted the Indian flag underwater near Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram. The video posted on the social media platform X, shows the coast guard officials waving the flag underwater.
Then, of course, Independence Day was celebrated with much grandeur at the Wagah-Attari border, where after flag hoisting, the Indian Army, reportedly roared at the Pakistani Rangers for about two hours.
Vayu Bhawan, the Indian Air Force headquarters in Delhi was illuminated in the colours of the flag, on the night of August 14. It will be illuminated in tricolours on Independence Day as well.
At the Red Fort ceremony in Delhi, for the first time on Independence Day, 105 mm Light Field Guns were fired as part of the ceremonial salute today.
