As BJP braces for upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan, the state leadership welcomed Devi Singh Bhati, a former minister in the Vasundhara Raje government, back to the fold after five years.
Bhati, who was close to former CM Vasundhara Raje, had left BJP in protest against Arjun Ram Meghwal after he was made the party candidate from Bikaner in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Bhati, who returned to the party fold after a gap of five years, said he was proud to have come back. "I had strayed on some issues and had some complaints, they have now gone away," he said.
Besides Bhati, Shravan Choudhary, former BSP candidate from Bandikui Bhagchand Saini, and BL Ranwan of Getwell Hospital Sikar also joined the saffron party ahead of the elections.
BJP state In-charge Arun Singh said there is a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness to take membership in the BJP in Rajasthan. He said every section of the state was troubled by the "jungle raj and misgovernance" of the Congress government. "Today the family of Bharatiya Janata Party is growing and people's faith and trust in BJP has increased," he said.
Seven zone strategy
The BJP has adopted the zonal strategy in Rajasthan, wherein the state would be divided into seven zones. Each zone will have an election in-charge and various leaders will be responsible for strengthening the party's position in the constituencies within the zone. These leaders will be entrusted with monitoring the ground situation and will have to update the zonal leader about the same.
Asim Goyal, an MLA from Haryana, has been appointed as the in-charge of Bikaner Zone. For the Jaipur Zone, Siddharthan, the state general secretary of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed the in-charge.
The responsibility for Bharatpur Zone, which includes four districts, has been handed over to Ajay Kumar, the state general secretary (Organisation) of Uttarakhand. Ajmer Zone, which comprises seven districts, is under Mahendra Singh, an MLA from Uttar Pradesh.
Jodhpur Zone, which comprises eight districts, has been entrusted to Jagbir Dhaba while Udaipur Zone, which includes seven districts, will be handled by Pawan Rana, State General Secretary, Delhi.
For Kota Zone, which includes five districts, Trilok Jamwal, an MLA from Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed in charge.
