An FIR was lodged against Shiv Sena MP Hemant Patil on Wednesday, a day after he forced the acting dean of a government hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded to clean dirty toilets, said police.

The Hingoli lawmaker, belonging to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, made Shyam Rao Wakode, the acting dean of the Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital, to clean toilets after outrage over death of 31 patients between September 30 and October 2 at the hospital.

Wakode filed a complaint to police against Patil and several other people. The FIR was lodged under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 500 (defamation) and 506 (criminal intimidation), as well as provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, said an official.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, Patil can be seen handing a broom to Wakode and making him clean a toilet and wall-mounted urinals. Later, Patil also forced Wakode to clean a toilet in Ward no. 6 of the hospital. "This led to an increase in my blood pressure," Wakode said in the complaint, as cited by PTI.

"The government spends crores but I am pained to see the situation here. The toilets have not been cleaned for months. The toilets in the wards of the hospital are locked. No water is available in toilets," Patil told a news channel on Tuesday.
