The Bengaluru police filed an FIR after a bus stop, along with its steel structure was stolen in August. The bus stop on Cunningham Road was stolen a week after it was installed. N Ravi Reddy, an associate vice-president of a company responsible for the construction of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus shelters in Bengaluru filed a complaint on September 30.

The Cunningham road bus stop being stolen is not an isolated incident. In March, a bust stand at the HRBR Layout disappeared overnight. Before that, a bus stand at Kalyan Nagar was removed overnight to make way for a commercial establishment.

The BMTC has accused the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) of taking down the bus stand. The BBMP, however, denied any involvement in the incident. The structure worth 10 lakh, was equipped with chairs, roofs, and poles, and was situated approximately 1 km from Vidhana Soudha.

The police have registered a case under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code, and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby buildings to identify the perpetrators.
