Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that there is a tacit understanding between the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana for the upcoming assembly elections.

Rahul, who launched his party’s poll campaign in the state on Wednesday, also accused the BJP and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of working together with the BRS to ensure the Congress party’s defeat.

"In the Telangana elections, the fight is between the Congress and the BRS. We have defeated the BJP already. But, the BJP wants the BRS to win in Telangana. Both are working together. And AIMIM is also with them," he said while addressing a public meeting in Mulugu.

Citing the BRS’ support to the BJP on the farm laws and GST, Rahul said there is a tacit understanding between the two parties.

The most glaring proof of this secretive alliance between the BJP and the BRS is, Rahul said, that there is no ongoing enquiry by the central agencies against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao though there are several cases filed against the opposition leaders.

"Twenty-four cases have been lodged against me. My house was snatched and I was disqualified from the Lok Sabha, but there are no cases on Telangana chief minister," Rahul said.

“If you cast your vote for the BRS, it will be for the BJP,” he further said, terming the BRS a B-team of the saffron party.

Rahul said the Congress had defeated the BJP in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh and exuded confidence that his party would defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram.

Telangana goes to polls on November 30. Counting of votes will take place on December 3.

In the 2018 assembly elections, BRS won 88 out of the 119 seats with a vote share of 47.4 per cent. Congress managed to win only 19 seats with a vote share of 28.7 per cent.
