Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and his wife Sara Abdullah have separated after nearly two decades of marriage, reveals his election affidavit.
Pilot, 46, filed his nomination for the upcoming assembly polls from Tonk assembly constituency on Tuesday.
The Congress leader has reportedly mentioned “divorced” in the column seeking details of the spouse.
Pilot married Sara, daughter of National Conference supremo and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, in 2004.
According to reports, the two met while pursuing their higher education at Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
The couple have two sons—Aaran and Vehaan.
Before filing his nomination papers on Tuesday, Pilot offered prayers at the Bhuteshwar Mahadev temple. He later took out a procession with his supporters from Bada Kuan to Patel Chowk in Tonk city.
Polling for the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly will be held on November 25 and votes will be counted on December 3.
