Three persons, including two shooters, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi who was gunned down in the living room of his house in Rajasthan's Jaipur on December 5.

The accused were arrested in a joint operation of the Rajasthan Police and the Delhi Police's Crime Branch wing.

The alleged shooters have been identified as Rohit Rathore from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Haryana, who were nabbed from Chandigarh's Sector 22.

According to police, a “miscommunication” between the shooters and their handlers over their escape plan from Jaipur after committing the crime had led to the arrests.

Both Rathore and Fauji were supposed to flee Jaipur after killing Gogamedi by boarding a truck arranged by their handlers. However, due to a miscommunication over the vehicle’s location, the shooters were forced to come up with an alternate escape plan.

The duo stole a scooty to flee the spot and later hid in a farm near the Jaipur-Ajmer bypass for at least an hour, waiting for a message from their handlers, a police officer told PTI.

Since they didn’t get any reply from the handlers, Rathore and Fauji hired a taxi for Didwana and further took a bus, a train and another taxi to move to Hisar, then Manali and finally reach Chandigarh, the report quoted the officer as saying.

The third person arrested in the case has been identified as Ramveer Jat who has prepared groundwork for the shooters in Jaipur.

Who are the handlers?

Soon after Gogamedi was killed, Rohit Godara, a close associate of the Lawrence-Goldy Brar criminal gang, had took to Facebook to claim responsibility for the murder.

According to police, the shooters were in contact with one Virender Charan, who provided them arms through couriers on the direction of Godara.

The handlers had allegedly promised passport and visa to Rathore and Fauji to flee the country, reports said.

Gogamedi was shot dead in the living room of his house in Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur. One of the assailants was also killed in the shootout.

A chilling video of the incident showed the assailants having tea with Gogamedi minutes before they shot him at least five times with the last bullet piercing through his head.
