Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra on Monday moved the Supreme Court challenging her ouster from the Lok Sabha over cash-for-query allegations, according to LiveLaw.
She was expelled from the Parliament last week based on a report by the Lok Sabha's Ethics Committee, which found her guilty of jeopardising national security.
Moitra was accused of accepting Rs 2 crore in cash and "luxury gift items" from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for asking questions critical of the government. She was also accused of sharing her login credentials to her parliamentary portal account with Hiranandani.
Moitra earlier said the panel didn't have the power to expel her, adding that sharing portal login details is a common among MPs and denied bribering charges, saying there was no evidence that she accepted money.
