In a daring crime reminiscent of the Atiq Ahmed murder in Uttar Pradesh in April, two men shot dead an undertrial prisoner in a court complex in Patna of Bihar on Friday.
According to media reports, the deceased, Abhishek Kumar, who faced murder charges among other cases, was being taken to Danapur court when two men attacked him and shot him dead.
Kumar, who was lodged in Beur jail in Patna, was to be presented before the court.
The attackers reportedly hail from Muzaffarpur.

"The attackers have been arrested and taken to the police station. They will be interrogated to ascertain who sent them and the reason behind this murder," NDTV quoted Patna West Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar as saying.
"Abhishek Kumar aka Chote Sarkar was attacked by two people who shot at him in Danapur court. Further investigation is underway. Abhishek Kumar passed away in the attack. Two accused taken into custody," the SP told news agency ANI.
Kumar said the police found four shells, but it is unclear how many bullets hit the deceased.
Earlier this year, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed was shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.
