The silver jubilee celebrations of a private firm turned tragic at the Ramoji Film City, when the CEO was killed and the president critically injured in a freak incident on the stage.
Vistex, Inc CEO Sanjay Shah, 56, and his colleague Raju Datla were being lowered in an iron cage from a height, when one of the cables broke and the two fell on the stage. They were rushed to the hospital but Shah died while undergoing treatment. Datla is in critical condition, police said.
A case has been registered against the Ramoji Film City event management authorities based on a complaint made by another official of the company.
Vistex had arranged accommodation for its staff at Ramoji Film City and had planned a two-day celebration for its 25th anniversary.
Mumbai-born Shah founded Vistex Inc in 1999. The company specialises in revenue management solutions and has a turnover of around $300 million, timesnownews reported.
Shah went to Chicago in 1993 and joined SAP. He then founded Hoffman Estates-based Vistex, Inc.
