After being untraceable for several hours, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary today. Soren, along with party leaders paid tributes to Gandhi at Bapu Dham in Ranchi.
Talking to presspersons, Soren said, “Today is the death anniversary of Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) and the ruling party is paying him floral tributes. We are proud that such people were born among us and gave us guidance.” Responding to a question about him being “missing”, Soren said, “I am in your heart; what's the problem?"
Soren, who is being probed by Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case was said to be untraceable by the agency. seized Rs 36 lakh, an SUV and some "incriminating" documents after it searched the Delhi residence of Soren. The ED searched Soren's 5/1 Shanti Niketan residence in south Delhi on Monday for almost 13 hours to question him in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land deal case in Jharkhand. However, Soren did not appear before the officials and it said the chief minister was untraceable.
According to reports, Soren reached his official residence in Ranchi past midnight. He met MLAs of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led ruling alliance at his residence.
