Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has reached his official residence in Ranchi amidst reports of him going ‘missing’. Soren, who is facing Enforcement Directorate probe in a money laundering case was said to be untraceable by the agency.
According to reports, Soren reached his official residence past midnight. All MLAs of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led ruling alliance were asked to remain in Ranchi Soren met with them at his residence. The meeting was called to discuss strategies regarding the current political situation, and the Enforcement Directorate's proposed questioning of the CM on Wednesday, a legislator told PTI.
ED on Tuesday seized Rs 36 lakh, an SUV and some "incriminating" documents after it searched the Delhi residence of Soren. The ED searched Soren's 5/1 Shanti Niketan residence in south Delhi on Monday for almost 13 hours to question him in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land deal case in Jharkhand. However, Soren did not appear before the officials, who said the chief minister was untraceable.
Section 144 CrPc was imposed within 100-metre radius of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s residence, Raj Bhavan and ED office in Ranchi.
