Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge charged unemployment, inflation and farmers’ distress were major issues in the country and the Modi government in the Centre never talks about such issues. The party released a ‘Black paper’ on Thursday, countering Centre’s move to table a white paper on the economy during UPA’s regime in Parliament on Thursday.

Releasing the black paper ‘10 Saal Anyay Kaal', Kharge said, “Whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents his views in Parliament, he hides his failures. At the same time, when we speak about the failures of the government, it is not given importance. Therefore, we want to bring out a Black Paper and tell the public about the failures of the government.”

Kharge added, “The biggest issue in the country is unemployment, but the Modi government never talks about it. They always compare 10 years, but never tell about the achievements of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji. Even in a state where there is no BJP government, the central government does not even give MNREGA money, then later says that the money was released but it was not spent.”

The 'black paper' highlights issues such as "unemployment, price rise, farmers' distress, failure to carry out a caste census and injustice to women. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge said he talks about Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi when asked about price rise but they are ruling now and they should answer what they have done.

“It was Modi's guarantee to provide two crore jobs and ensure MSP to farmers and now the prime minister should say he could not do it, but, instead he has come up with new guarantees,” Kharge said. Kharge said the Congress ensured India's independence and in 2024, it will take the country out of the BJP's "darkness of injustice".

Kharge charged inflation has increased a lot in the country, but instead of reducing it, PM Modi keeps comparing it with Congress. “If the Modi government wants, it can control inflation on daily essential items including pulses and oil. But PM Modi imports things from outside to benefit his friends,” he added.

He also charged farmers sat on strike for a year against the three black laws, but the government did not care about them. “PM Modi had told the farmers that they will get more MSP and their income would double, but did nothing. PM Modi does not say anything about unemployment, inflation and farmers in Parliament,” Kharge said.
