Ashok Chavan, former Maharashtra chief minister resigned from the Congress on Monday. Rumours are rife that he might join the BJP.
Ashok Chavan reportedly sent his resignation letter to Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Pataole. He also met Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar in the morning and submitted his resignation as an MLA.
This comes days after senior Maharashtra Congress leaders Baba Siddique and Milind Deora quit the party.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told reporters, "Wait and watch what happens."
Chavan stepped down as chief minister in 2010 for his alleged involvement in Adarsh housing scam. His father late Shankarrao Chavan was also the chief minister of Maharashtra.
