The youngest Ambani son, Anant, is getting married to Radhika Merchant and the pre-wedding festivities have begun. The couple, who got engaged in January 2023. The couple have chosen Jamnagar to hold their wedding. About 1000 people are expected to attend the wedding. The couple, on February 28, held Anna Seva, where 51,000 people will be served food and it will continue for the next few days in the villages around Jamnagar.
Mukesh and Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant, Viren Merchant, Shaila Merchant, and Radhika’s grandmother kick-started the Anna Seva in Jogvad near Jamnagar. The attendees were later entertained by noted Gujarati singer Kirtidan Gadhvi.
The reason Jamnagar was chosen as the place to host their wedding is because the village is close to the 3000-acre animal shelter, for rescue and rehabilitation of injured, abused and threatened animals. The shelter, founded by Anant Ambani, hopes to become a leading contributor to global conservation efforts.
One of its main objectives would be to protect endangered species in India. The facility has scientifically designed enclosures for elephants, tigers, leopards, lions and crocodiles. They also have facilities like hydrotherapy pools and water bodies.
The centre also boasts a 1-lakh sq foot animal hospital with infrastructure for MRI, X-Ray, ICU, CT-scan and more. The facility also has an elaborate kitchen to accommodate the dietary needs of the animals. And houses Ayurvedic practitioners dedicated to elephant care. Vanatra aims to collaborate with the Zoo Authority of India and other government organisations to enhance the quality of zoos in India.
Earlier in an interview, Anant Ambani said, "I have grown up here (Jamnagar), and it's my good fortune that we could plan the celebration here. This is my dadi's janmbhoomi and my dada and papa's karmbhoomi.”
