In a shocking incident reportedly caught on camera in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, a man tried to throw his wife off the balcony of her residence after repeatedly stabbing and beating her. The accused was cheered on by his mother and second wife as he assaulted the woman, on Sunday, reports added.
The shocking incident was reported in Indore's Banganga neighbourhood. The woman, identified as Pooja, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit, the Free Press Journal (FPJ) said in a report.
The accused Jitendra Parmar was remanded after being picked up by the cops on charges of attempt to murder. The video, which first appeared on the internet on Wednesday, showed Jitendra Parmar following a wailing Pooja, a mother of two, to the balcony of the building. He was seen assaulting and cursing Pooja as she pleaded for mercy.
He violently tried to throw the woman over the handrails of the balcony to which she clung with all her might. As she managed to settle onto the floor, diminishing the chances of getting thrown off, the man picked up a brick and beat her several times on the head, the video showed. There were blood stains on Jitendra Parmar's shirt.
The Banganga Police reportedly told FPJ that Parmar got married to another woman three months ago and hasn't visited Pooja ever since. On the day of the crime, he arrived at her Narwar residence accompanied by his second wife Gayatri, mother Basanti Bai and sister Payal.
A sick Pooja was fast asleep and her children were playing when the four came knocking at their apartment on Sunday. According to the victim, Gayatri and Basanti Bai caught hold of her as the man stabbed her multiple times with a knife, the FPJ report said. She was grabbed by the hair by the man who threatened to "definitely kill her today". As she was dragged to the balcony, Basanti Bai and Gayatri scrammed and the rest of the assault was caught on camera, the report added.
The two women were also booked by the police on charges of attempt to murder.
