Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, is all set to make her electoral debut as the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded her in the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

A Supreme Court lawyer, Bansuri expressed her gratitude to the BJP leadership for nominating her in the prestigious seat.

"I feel grateful. I express gratitude towards PM Modi, HM Amit Shah ji, J.P. Nadda ji and every BJP worker for giving me this opportunity. With the resolution of 'ab ki baar 400 paar', every BJP worker will work to make Narendra Modi the 'PradhanSewak' for the third time," she told news agency ANI.

Having studied law at BPP Law School in London, the 40-year-old boasts a wealth of experience in the legal profession. Last year, the BJP appointed her as the co-convenor of the BJP legal cell in Delhi.

The saffron party announced candidates for five of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi on Saturday. Besides Bansuri, Kamaljit Sehrawat has been fielded in West Delhi, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri in South Delhi, Praveen Khadelwal in Chandni Chowk and Manoj Tiwari in North East Delhi.

In Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress have announced that they will contest the elections together in all seven seats. As part of the seat-sharing agreement, the AAP will contest in four seats and the Congress in three.
