Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and a few other cabinet ministers received a bomb threat e-mail on Tuesday. Bengaluru City Crime Branch has initiated a probe.

According to police, the threat e-mails were sent from the address Shahidkhan10786@protonmail.com and miscreants allegedly demanded $2.5 million dollars. The miscreants have threatened to cause blasts in public areas if their demands are not met.

Besides Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner received the threat e-mail on March 2, a day after a low-intensity blast rocked the city’s famous Rameshwaram Cafe. As many as 10 persons suffered injuries in the blast.

"What are your thoughts on the movie trailer? If you don't provide us with 2.5 million dollars, we will cause large explosions on buses, trains, temples, hotels and public areas throughout Karnataka," ANI reported quoting the e-mail.

"We want to show you one more trailer. We are going to explode the next one in the Ambari Utsav bus. After the Ambari Utsav bus blast, we will raise our demands on social media. And will upload screenshots of the mail sent to you on social media. We will tweet information about the next explosion," it stated.

A low-intensity blast occurred at Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1. Though it was initially suspected to be an LPG cylinder explosion, it was later confirmed as a bomb blast. The National Investigation Agency has taken over the probe of the case.
