Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday issued second direction from Enforcement Directorate custody, this time asking the health minister to ensure availability of free medicines in Mohalla clinics. Earlier, the chief minister issued directions related to water department.
Delhi’s Minister for Health Saurabh Bharadwaj told presspersons, “Even from the ED custody, Delhi CM is worried about the healthcare of the state. He is worried since he is jailed, the people of Delhi should not suffer due to it. The CM has received information that people are facing difficulties in the tests carried out at the Mohalla clinics. He has directed me to take steps to resolve this. I want to ensure the people of Delhi that even if your CM is in jail, he is only thinking about you.” Bharadwaj said the chief minister has come to know that free tests are not being conducted at some places and has issued directions to resolve those issues.
The AAP leader, remanded to ED custody till March 28 in the liquor policy scam case, issued the first direction from ED custody on March 23 and directed Water Minister Atishi to resolve water and sewage-related issues in the national capital. Arrested by ED on March 21, the AAP has maintained that Arvind Kejriwal will not resign and will continue to govern from prison.
The agency has taken cognisance of chief minister’s directions from custody and is probing whether directions from the arrested chief minister were in line with the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court's order.
Kejriwal’s second direction comes as the party is planning massive protest in the national capital on Tuesday. AAP is planning to gherao prime minister’s residence condemning Kejriwal’s arrest.
