In a shocking incident in Kerala’s Kochi, a 45-year-old man, who was under treatment at a city hospital after being brutally beaten up by a gang over the barking of his pet dog, died on Monday.
The victim, Thottungal Parambil Vinod, was the driver of Kerala High Court judge Satish Ninan.
Police had already arrested four postal department employees for attempted murder after Vinod was attacked at his house on the Mullasseri canal road on March 25.
Those arrested were identified as Ashwini Golkar (27) from Uttar Pradesh, Kushal Gupta (27) from Ghaziabad, Utkarsh (25) from Rajasthan, and Deepak (26) from Haryana. The accused were staying at a rented apartment close to Vinod’s house.
According to local media reports, one of the accused, who was passing by Vinod’s house, threw a sandal at his German Shepherd dog when it barked at him from inside the gate.
On questioning this, Vinod was also brutally roughed up by the gang, the reports claimed.
Vinod was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a city hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
