Sunetra Pawar, the Mahayuti alliance candidate for Baramati Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra, will file her nomination on Thursday. Sunetra, wife of NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, offered prayers at Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple in Pune ahead of filing her papers.
"Today is a big day for me. I am going to file my nomination today. So we came here, offered prayers and took blessings," Sunetra, the NCP candidate, told reporters. She will face her sister-in-law and NCP (SP) candidate Supriya Sule in Baramati.
Ajit Pawar, who accompanied his wife to the temple, told reporters that he prayed for Mahayuti candidates. "I have prayed to Lord Bappa that when PM Modi will be elected for the third time, there should be a major contribution from Maharashtra and that maximum Mahayuti candidates should get elected," Pawar added.
He said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will try to be present whenever the Mahayuti candidates file papers. "We have called everyone to be present today but there is nothing like 'Shakti Pradarshan," Pawar said on reports of NCP processions ahead of the filing.
Fadnavis has already arrived in Pune to take part in the nomination filing for the Baramati, Sangli and Satara seats. He expressed confidence that they would win all three seats. BJP will win the Madha seat too where sitting MP of the saffron party, Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar is pitted against NCP (SP) candidate Dhairysheel Mohite Patil, he claimed.
Besides Sunetra, Sule is also expected to file papers today. Both factions of the NCP will be taking out processions during nomination. Besides Sule, her party's Shirur candidate Dr Amol Kolhe and the Congress and Pune Lok Sabha constituency candidate Ravindra Dhangekar will also file their papers.
Prashant Jagtap, NCP (SP) Pune city unit president, said after filing nominations, there will be a joint rally where party president Sharad Pawar, state unit president Jayant Patil and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut would be present.
