Karthik, former driver of Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna who has been suspended from JD(S) over an alleged sex scandal involving him, refuted claims that he had leaked the videos containing the explicit videos of abuse to the Congress leaders in Karnataka and clarified that he shared them only with BJP leader G. Devaraje Gowda.
Gowda had contested for Holenarasipur assembly seat against Prajwal's father H.D. Revanna during the 2023 assembly elections.
Karthik claimed that he had approached Gowda to seek justice for women who were victims of alleged abuse by Prajwal Revanna.
Gowda had claimed earlier that the videos were first leaked to the Congress leaders.
In a video statement, Karthik said, “I don’t know whether he (Gowda) distributed the pen drive or gave it to someone else for the purpose, or if BJP people did it. But I did not give the pen drive to anyone else except him."
"Now, he is blaming me for giving it to the Congress leaders. If I were to give it to Congress leaders, why would I approach him for justice,” he asked.
He said he is ready to appear before the special investigation team to submit all documents regarding the issue.
On Monday, Gowda had claimed that Karthik told him that the latter had given the pen drive to state Congress chief D.K. Shivakumar and other Congress leaders.
Reacting to this, Karthik said, "He (Gowda) is making false allegations that I gave the pen drive to Congress leaders. But I gave the pen drive only to Devaraje Gowda, who lost elections at Holenarasipur on a BJP ticket, and not to anyone else. Why will I give it to Congress leaders? Congress leaders are close to them (Revanna family)."
