TV actor Rupali Ganguly of 'Anupamaa' fame joins BJP

Says she joined the party as she wants to contribute to development of nation

Popular television actor Rupali Ganguly, known for her roles in the shows Anupamaa and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, joined the BJP on Wednesday.

According to media reports, the actor joined the saffron party in the presence of senior leaders Vinod Tawde and Anil Baluni at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Rupali Ganguly said she decided to join the BJP as she wanted to contribute to the development that has been happening around the country.

"I need your blessings and support so that whatever I do, I do it right," she said.

"The one personality that attracts everyone towards BJP is PM Modi. His working style, personality and the way he has taken our country towards development, every Indian wants to join 'Modi Sena' and contribute to the country and I also felt the same and hence I joined BJP," she said after joining the party.

A few weeks ago had taken to Instagram to narrate the "fan girl moment" she had when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She called it "one of the most memorable and cherished days" of her life.

"It was indeed a fan girl moment! For 14 years I probably manifested the hour and more that I got to share the stage with him on such a huge platform that he has created for the remarkable digital content creators which shall not only be most coveted in the future but also an award that endorses Modijis vision of a digitally global India," she wrote.

"What more could anyone ask for than to share moments with the man who has changed the position of our country in the global economy and made every Indian stand tall with pride on every soil we step foot on," she added.
