The Karnataka Police’s Special Investigation Team on Saturday took into custody MLA and former minister H.D. Revanna in connection with a kidnapping case registered against him.
The JD(S) leader, who represents Holenarasipur constituency, was picked up by the SIT sleuths from his father and former prime minister H.D. Dever Gowda’s residence in Padmanabha Nagar soon after a local court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
Revanna was taken to the SIT office, in the CID headquarters in Bengaluru. According to reports, high drama unfolded when the SIT team knocked on the gates of Gowda’s home.
The gates were not opened and when the team was contemplating breaking in, Revanna opened the door of the house and gave up himself, reported The Hindu.
Earlier in the day, the SIT had issued a lookout notice against Revanna, who is also facing sexual abuse allegations along with his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal is also on the run and believed to have flown out of the country.
A first case was registered against the father and son duo for alleged sexual harassment at the Holenarsipura police station in Hassan district last Sunday, based on a complaint by a woman who worked in Revanna's house.
The second FIR was registered against Revanna and his confidant Sathish Babanna in Mysuru on Thursday night for allegedly abducting a woman, who is also reportedly a victim of sexual abuse.
