In his second phase of electioneering in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening led a 2.5 km-long mega roadshow in the capital city of Bhubaneswar -- a first of its kind in his campaign itinerary in the state this time.

The Prime Minister has come to Odisha on a two-day poll campaign mission starting Friday evening, and will address three meetings in western districts on Saturday.

After arrival, Modi proceeded to the BJP state headquarters before heading to Ram Mandir Square in the Janpath, where he embarked on a roadshow to Vani Vihar touching the National Highway. Prime Minister waved at the massive crowd along the route. Standing on a specially designed vehicle, the Prime Minister greeted the people gathered on the sides of the road.

He was accompanied by BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal and the party’s candidate for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency Aparajita Sarangi who is also its sitting MP.

Massive arrangements were made for the roadshow including erecting of barricades. The entire road stretch was decked up with saffron hues as BJP flags were seen on either side. Cultural teams were also stationed at different places along the stretch to welcome the Prime Minister.

On Saturday Modi is scheduled to address poll rallies at Phulbani, the district headquarters town of Kandhamal, Bolangir, the district headquarters town and Bargarh, another district headquarters situated in western Odisha. Chief Minister and BJD supermo Naveen Patnaik's second seat of Kantabanji is in Bolangir district.

In his first tour, PM Modi had addressed a meeting in Ganjam district where lies Patnaik’s Hinjli assembly segment.
