In a damning claim against Prajwal Revanna, the suspended JD(S) leader who is accused of sexual assault, a woman claimed that the accused sexually harassed and threatened her and raped her mother.
According to media reports, sources in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) said the woman claimed that Prajwal Revanna used to harass her between 2020 and 2021.
The woman said Prajwal used to call her and ask her to remove her clothes. He would call on the mobile phone of the woman's mother and force her to answer the video calls. "When I refused, he threatened to harm me and my mother."
She said when her family members came to know about these incidents, they supported her, and a complaint against Prajwal was filed.
The woman claimed that her mother was raped by Prajwal and sexually harassed by his father H.D. Revanna.
"Prajwal used to threaten my mother that if she didn't cooperate, he would snatch her husband's job, make him unemployed, and even rape her daughter," the woman said.
She claimed that her mother was treated like a slave. "She (the mother) was harassed so much that she would only call us late at night, at around 1 or 2 am. She hardly used to talk to us," the woman said.
Meanwhile, the SIT probing the case against Prajwal Revanna arrested two people in connection with the case on Sunday. Chetan and Likith Gowda were arrested in Hassan. The duo were associated with the BJP in the district, according to a PTI report.
The SIT has set up a special helpline number for victims of sexual abuse by the JD(S) leader to come forward and register complaints.
Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda is said to have flown abroad on April 27 a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka.
