Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Monday said he is unaware of any criminal case against Bharatiya Janata Party State President K. Annamalai or has given any sanction to prosecute him.
In a release, the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan clarified it has been receiving anxious calls from the public regarding a criminal case against Annamalai. “Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu has been receiving anxious enquiries from the public for the last two days regarding news circulating in media that the Governor of Tamil Nadu has accorded sanction to prosecute K. Annamalai, BJP State President in a criminal case.”
It added, “It is hereby informed that Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu is not aware of the criminal case against Annamalai and has not issued any sanction order.”
Annamalai recently tweeted, sharing copies of a government order that the DMK government has accorded sanction to prosecute him for recalling an incident from 1956. “In the last three years, the draconian DMK government has filed plenty of cases against me and our BJP Karyakarthas for speaking the truth and has recently issued a sanction to prosecute me yet again,” the BJP leader tweeted. However, Annamalai dared the government to book cases against him, but, it wouldn’t stop them from exposing the wrongdoings of the government.
