Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers to contest Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi on Tuesday. Key leaders of the National Democratic Alliance had reached Varanasi to attend the filing of nomination of the prime minister.

Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his proposers while he filed his nomination papers at the District Magistrate’s office in Varanasi. 

Ahead of filing nominations as the BJP candidate for Varanasi constituency, Prime Minister Modi offered prayers at Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi.

On arrival at the Ghat, the PM boarded a cruise ship at Dasaswamedh Ghat. He also took part in prayers and performed ganga aarti at the ghat, marking the auspicious day of Ganga Saptami. The Prime Minister also offered prayers at Kaal Bhairav Temple in Varanasi ahead of filing the nominations.

The BJP also celebrated the Prime Minister's filing of nominations with a post on X in Hindi, remarking that the temple town of Kashi was once again ready to send its servant to the Parliament. "I have neither come here nor has anyone sent me here, Maa Ganga has called me… This relationship between Kashi, Kashi residents and the Chief Servant is one of development, trust and affection. Kashi is once again ready to send its beloved chief servant to the parliament by winning him with record votes," the post read. 

The Prime Minister also took to Twitter to hail his association with Kashi, calling his bond with Kashi as "amazing, inseparable and incomparable."
