All 14 officials of Hindustan Copper Limited, who were trapped in a mine in Rajasthan's Neem ka Thana district after a lift collapsed on Tuesday night, have been rescued. Everybody is safe, said reports.
The rescue operations began immediately after the vertical shaft used for the transportation of personnel collapsed. The trapped men were members of a vigilance team of the PSU.
Dr Pravin Sharma of Jhunjhunu Government Hospital told ANI: "All people trapped in the mine have been rescued safely. Three of them were in serious condition and have been referred to Jaipur."
The report added that some people suffered fractures in their hands and some in their legs and the rescue operation was done with the help of a ladder.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the vigilance team along with senior officials of the state-owned company went inside the mine for an inspection. When they were about to come up, a rope of the shaft or 'cage' broke due to which around 14 people were stuck, the police said.
A rescue operation was launched immediately and the rescue team could establish contact with the trapped personnel.
Neem ka Thana district is around 108 km from the state capital Jaipur.
