The Indian National Congress on Sunday evening tweeted a video from its official handle in which a youngster was seen casting his vote several times for the BJP candidate. Asking the Election Commission to "wake up", and take action, Congress captioned the video: "You can see the boy voting again and again for 8 times. Wake up now."

The The two-minute fifteen-second long video showed the youth repeatedly pressing the button against the lotus symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). The name of the BJP candidate read Mukesh Rajput -- a candidate in the fray from Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. The Week couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the viral video.

The face of the youngster is clearly seen multiple times towards the end of the video as he switches between the front and back cameras of the phone used to shoot the video. At one point, he even flashes his voter ID card before the camera amidst voting multiple times in favour of the BJP candidate.

The video was also shared online by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. "If the Election Commission feels that this is wrong, they should certainly take some action, otherwise... BJP's booth committee is actually a loot committee," the former Uttar Pradesh CM jotted on X (formerly Twitter).

The Election Commission is yet to respond to the development during the time of compiling this report.

The Lok Sabha elections are not over yet in Uttar Pradesh -- a key state when it comes to the "number game" involved in the formation of the government. UP constituencies Allahabad and Machhlishahr are scheduled to go to polls in the sixth phase of the seven-phase parliamentary election on May 25.
