NDA looking at June 9 as possible swearing-in date if it wins: Report

The BJP-led NDA is mulling the possibility of taking oath on June 9 and is keen to find a venue that can accommodate a large number of guests, one such possibility being Kartavya Path.

According to a Hindustan Times report, tentative plans have been made for the ceremony in the event of the NDA victory and the idea is to showcase the achievements of the government in the last 10 years and its vision for the future at the venue.

Results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 4. The seventh and final phase of the polls will be held on June 1.

“A lot of the new structures of the Central Vista project are ready and so it provides an ideal location for the vision of a Viksit (developed) Bharat,” a source has been quoted as saying.

Gauav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharti, has been quoted as saying that "all preparations are in place as per standard protocol."

The BJP has been exuding confidence that the party will come to power for a third consecutive time with a thumping majority of over 400 seats. "The '400 paar' slogan is based on calculation and considered opinion," Home Minister Amit Shah had recently said.

Confident of victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already appeared to have accepted an invitation to attend the G7 summit outreach sessions to be held in Italy in June. He had said in a tweet in April: “Spoke with PM Giorgia Meloni...Thanked her for the invite to the G7 Summit in June. Discussed taking forward G20 India outcomes at the G7...”
