The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which arrested suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexually assaulting several women, is likely to conduct a potency test on the Hassan MP.
The potency test is in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the investigation and prosecution of rape against women which stipulates that "The accused should be medically examined to prove his physical capacity for committing the alleged crime."
The investigation team arrested Prajwal Revanna as soon as he landed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru in the wee hours of Friday.
The SIT will soon present him before the Magistrate in the Special Court of People's Representatives. According to media reports, he was interrogated by the investigation team, which is expected to request the court to hand over his to their custody. Before being produced in court, the MP will be taken for medical examination.
Security was tightened at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru in view of Prajwal Revanna's arrival for various medical tests including blood pressure, blood sugar level and cardiac health.
G. Parameshwara urges survivors to come forward
Speaking about Prajwal Revanna's arrest and subsequent follow-up action by the police, state Home Minister G Parameshwara said, "Prajwal Revanna landed around 12.40 am to 12:50 am from Germany's Munich, as there was an arrest warrant against him. The SIT accordingly arrested him and took him into custody. They will follow further legal procedures."
The home minister made another request to the survivors of the assault to come before the investigation team and speak about the abuse they faced.
