With the one-and-half-month-long Lok Sabha elections ending on Saturday, all eyes are now on the exit poll results. Besides Lok Sabha, the exit polls on the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will also be released once the voting ends.

When will the exit poll data will be available?

According to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, television channels and news outlets will be able to run exit poll data and its results after 6:30 pm.

The Congress on Friday said it has decided not to participate in any debates on Lok Sabha exit polls on the television channels, pointing out that the party does not want to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP.

"The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP," Congress spoksperson and media department chairperson Pawan Khera said posted on X. "The Indian National Congress will not participate in the debates on Exit Polls. The purpose of any debate should be to inform the people. We will happily partake in debates from 4th June onwards."

On the other hand, BJP president J.P. Nadda on Friday claimed the Congress' decision amounts to an "unequivocal confirmation" that it has conceded the elections. "Their hypocrisy is not lost on anyone. Let no one in Phase 7 waste their vote on them," he said.

Stakeholders in the country's equity markets will also be closely watching the exit poll data. The exit poll results is likely to have an impact on the market sentiments on Monday, a day ahead of the vote counting.
