Lok Sabha Election Result 2024 LIVE: The JD(U)-BJP-led NDA bagged the majority of the seats in Bihar as the Lok Sabha election results 2024 were coming to a close on Tuesday. Interestingly, JD(U) outperformed BJP as the INDIA bloc trailed. Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) Jitan Ram Manhji was declared the winner from Bihar's Gaya constituency. The former Bihar chief minister, 79, won by a margin of, 1,01,812 votes against RJD's Kumar Sarvjeet. Jitan Ram Manhji, who polled 4,94,960 votes, is the first to be declared winner as counting is progressing in other seats in Bihar.
Bihar is one of the most important Hindi heartland states, where the BJP successfully sidelined the once-powerful regional parties and established its dominance. The state has undergone a significant political transformation over the years with the recent one being Janata Dal (United)'s Nitish Kumar switch to National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last year.
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 is a litmus test for the BJP-JDU alliance. There are also rumours that Bihar CM may take another U-turn and may resign to join hands with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s Tejashwi Yadav and Congress in the state. All eyes are on Nitish Kumar as reportedly Congress and INDIA bloc are in touch with Bihar CM.
Political analysts and INDI alliance leaders believe that Nitish Kumar's frequent shifts in allegiance are going to harm the party as well as his reputation.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP secured 17 seats, while JD(U), won 16 seats, paving the way for the NDA to dominate with 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar. The Congress managed to win just one seat, and the RJD failed to secure any. This in turn boosted BJP's confidence in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The election is crucial for Congress as the party needs to prove its relevance. While for RJD, this election is all about making a national comeback and setting the stage for the 2025 state assembly elections.
