A Mumbai-bound Akasa Air flight with 193 persons on board made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad following a security threat. All passengers were deplaned and security protocols are being followed, the airline said.
A spokesperson of Akasa Air said, "Akasa Air flight QP 1719, flying from Delhi to Mumbai on June 03, 2024, and carrying 186 passengers, 1 infant and six crew members on board, received a security alert on board. As per prescribed safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Ahmedabad,” ANI reported.
The airline said all emergency procedures were followed.“The captain followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10.13am. All passengers have been deplaned. Akasa Air is following and supporting all safety and security protocols on ground,” the airline said.
Earlier on Monday, a Kolkata-bound flight from Chennai also received a bomb threat and it was delayed by two hours.
A Kolkata-bound IndiGo flight from Chennai was delayed by two hours following a call which warned that a bomb would explode in that flight, officials said. Following the receipt of the call at the IndiGo call centre located at Thuraipakkam, the flight was moved by authorities to an 'isolated bay' and a security check was carried out, they said.
After the completion of security procedures, the flight was allowed to depart by 10.30am, officials added.
