CEC says there was no repolling in 27 states

Dismissing trolls and memes that the Election Commission was mute and did not react to various model code violations during this Lok Sabha polls, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said they weren’t  “Laapata Gentlemen” and they were always here.

Addressing presspersons in New Delhi, Kumar said, “We were always here, never went missing.” He added the country has set a world record with the participation of a record number of voters this Lok Sabha polls. Kumar said 642 million voters voted in this election, including 312 women voters. He added that the voter turnout was 1.5 times higher than turnout in G7 countries and 2.5 times of 27 European Union countries. 

The Commissioner claimed that compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, there were only 39 repolls against 540 in 2019. He added there was no repolling in 27 states.

Kumar said Rs 10,000 crore was seized during this election and it was three times higher than seizures were made in 2019. "This is one of the General Elections where we have not seen violence. This required two years of preparation," CEC said. Kumar added stern measures were taken to thwart misinformation and use of deepfakes this election.
