THE WEEK LIVE UPDATES | Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 LIVE: Modi or INDIA bloc?
Alathur is the only two seat in Kerala where a Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate managed to win. Minister for Devaswoms and Welfare of SC, ST and Backward Classes K Radhakrishnan defeated incumbent Congress leader Ramya Haridas to save CPM's blushes in the southern seat. In the battle of Kerala Congress factions, UDF ally K Francis Geroge emerged victorius over sitting MP Thomas Chazhikkadan.
The Indian Union of Muslim League also retained its two seats -- Ponnani and Malappuram.

In the last general elections too, LDF was reduced to just a seat while the Congress and its allies bagged the remaining 19.
Kerala witnessed a triangular contest as the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), both members of the I.N.D.I.A bloc, decided to contest all seats sans any alliance deals. The CPI(M) and Congress, both sworn rivals of the BJP-led NDA, look to win as many seats as possible from Kerala, a state where BJP failed to win any seats in 2019.
What did Exit Polls say about Kerala Lok Sabha results:
According to the exit polls that were revealed on Saturday, the Left was unlikely to make a strong comeback in Kerala. The lion's share of seats is likely to be won by Congress and its allies, it said. As many as 15 seats would be won by the UDF while the BJP may win 1-3 seats. The Left parties are unlikely to win more than 5 seats in Kerala, several exit poll data claimed.
