Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Results Live: Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) managed to maintain its upperhand in West Bengal by winning the lion's share of 42 seats that went to poll in West Bengal. It was disappointment for the Left-Congress alliance once again as they collectively won just one seat. It was Congress's Isha Khan Choudhary who won from Maldaha Dakshin seat by a margin of 1,28,368 votes. The BJP is ahead in 11 seats.

West Bengal bears the third-highest number of Lok Sabha seats in the entire country. In the 2019 general elections, BJP won 18 out of 42 seats in the state, while Trinamool Congress Party successfully secured 22 seats. Even though BJP finished second, the party's jump from 2014 was impressive whereas TMC saw a drop in their vote share.
The TMC's vote share increased to 47 per cent, up from 43 per cent in 2019. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the TMC had won 22 seats and the BJP 18. Abhishek Banerjee of the TMC won from Diamond Harbour seat with a majority of 7,10,930 votes.
The breakdown of seat-sharing talks between the TMC and the Congress in January appeared to benefit Mamata Banerjee's party, setting the stage for a three-cornered electoral contest and providing a strategic advantage to the TMC.

Prominent TMC candidates are party general Abhishek Banerjee, veteran leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Sougata Roy, former cricketer Kirti Azad, and Yusuf Pathan. For the BJP, party's West Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar, senior leader Dilip Ghosh, and Union minister Nisith Pramanik are in the fray, while the Congress has fielded Adhir Chowdhury, and the CPI(M) has nominated Mohammed Salim and Sujan Chakraborty.
What are the exit polls predicting for West Bengal?
The exit polls have favoured the BJP over the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, indicating a stop to the TMC’s winning streak. According to the News18 exit poll which was released on June 1, 2024, NDA-led BJP shall win 21 to 24 seats out of 24 from the state whereas TMC is likely to garner 18 to 21 seats.
Like most INDIA alliance members, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the Trinamool Congress too strongly advocated against exit polls, which claimed that the BJP would surpass TMC’s vote share in the state. Mamata asserted that the exit polls do not have credibility and labelled them "manufactured at home."
