A total of 194 candidates are awaiting results in the fiercely fought Kerala Lok Sabha elections. The BJP-led NDA is trying to make inroads into the state, and is facing fierce resistance from CPI(M)-led ruling LDF, and the Congress-headed UDF.
The BJP is pinning its hopes on two union ministers, Rajeev Chandrasekhar and V. Muraleedharan, Anil Antony, son of Congress leader A.K Antony, and actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi.
Rajeev Chandrashekhar contested from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat where he was pitted agianst Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. Suresh Gopi awaiting results from Thrissur, while Anil Antony is awaiting results from Pathanamthitta constituency.
According to exit polls, Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) is likely to have a clear mandate, but Axis My India exit poll projected that the NDA may win 2-3 seats. ABP-C Voter has predicted 1 to 3 seats to the NDA.
The state had a voter turnout of 67.08 per cent in the single-phase elections on April 26.
