Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray)took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party MP and actor Kangana Ranaut after she was assaulted by CISF personnel at Chandigarh Airport on Thursday. Historically, the erstwhile Shiv Sena was at loggerheads with Ranaut for her comments against the party.

Addressing presspersons, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, “Some people give votes and some give slaps.” Adding he is not aware of what actually happened at the airport, Raut said, “If the constable has said that her mother was also sitting, then it is true. If her mother was there in the farmer's agitation and someone said anything against it, then it would create anger.”

However, the Sena leader said the law should not be taken into hands and an MP should not have been attacked. “The people in the farmer's agitation were sons and daughters of India. If someone insults Bharat Mata and someone is offended by it, then it is something to think about. I have sympathy for Kangana. She is an MP now. An MP should not be attacked but the farmers should also be respected,” he said.

In the past, when the Sena-led government was in power in Maharashtra, the party was at loggerheads with the actor after Kangana commented she was feeling unsafe in Mumbai following the death of actor Sushanth Singh Rajput. However, the issue snowballed, leading to the Sena-led BMC demolishing a part of her production office alleging illegal construction.

The new-elected BJP MP was allegedly assaulted by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) woman constable during a security check at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

A scuffle had occurred at the security check between the actor-turned-politician and the CISF personnel when the former, reportedly, refused to put her phone in the tray.

An inquiry committee comprising senior CISF officials has been set up to conduct a further investigation. According to officials, the constable has been suspended and an FIR has been lodged against her.
