Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed charge at his office after being sworn in consecutively for a third time by President Droupadi Murmu on Monday. Modi also signed his first file, for the release of 17th instalment of funds under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
Taking charge at his office in the South Block of Parliament, Modi was received by staff at his office. “Ours is a Government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come,” Modi said after signing the file. On the release of funds, as many as 9.3 crore farmers would benefit and around Rs 20,000 crore would be disbursed.
The first cabinet meeting of the Modi 3.0 government will be held at 5pm today. President Murmu on Sunday administered oath to 30 cabinet ministers, five ministers of state with independent charge and 36 MoS. Of the72 ministers sworn in, including those from allies like TDP, JD(U), LJP, JDS, and HAM, 60 are from the BJP.
As many as 43 ministers have served three terms or higher in parliament while 39 have served as union ministers before. As many as 34 ministers have served in state legislatures with 23 of them having served as state ministers.
Modi has kept social and caste considerations in mind, with 27 OBCs, 10 SC, five ST, and five representing minority communities. Modi rewarded those MPs who have been elected for three terms.
