BJP MP from Kerala Kerala Suresh Gopi, who was sworn in as a Union minister of state on Sunday, refuted media reports that claimed that he is resigning from the council of ministers.
Rubbishing such reports, Suresh Gopi, in a social media post on Monday, claimed that the news of his resignation from the council of ministers is “grossly incorrect.”
"A few media platforms are spreading the incorrect news that I am going to resign from the Council of Ministers of the Modi Government. This is grossly incorrect. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala" Suresh Gopi wrote.
Media reports had said Suresh Gopi, a few hours after he was sworn in, had requested that he be relieved from the post so that he could work for the people of his constituency, Thrissur. Media reports also had suggested that Suresh Gopi's request to be relieved was also because of his movie commitments.
According to media reports, the actor-politician had conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that movies are his source of income and that he spends most of the money that he earns from his movies for the welfare of the society.
Modi is understood to have told Suresh Gopi that he would be given enough time to finish the movies that had already committed.
