A policeman was injured in a fresh encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening.

The encounter broke out after terrorists opened fire on a search party in Gandoh area of Doda district around 7.41 pm. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to strengthen the cordon while intermittent exchange of fire between the two sides was still going on, officials said.

This is the fourth encounter in the Union Territory in the last three days and the second in Doda district in the last 24 hours.

On Tuesday evening, five Rashtriya Rifles personnel and a Special Police Officer were injured in a terrorist attack in Chattargalla pass.

In another encounter on Tuesday in Kathua district, a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed by security forces. A CRPF jawan also lost his life in the gunfight.

On Sunday, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge in Reasi, killing nine and injuring 41.
