In what comes as a huge relief to Bhavani Revanna, mother of suspended JD(S) leader and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna who is accused of sexually abusing several women and recording the abuse, Karnataka High Court, on Tuesday, granted anticipatory bail to her in connection with a kidnapping case. The HC had earlier granted interim anticipatory bail to her subject to various conditions.
Bhavani Revanna is allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a woman to stop her from filing a case of sexual assault against Prajwal Revanna.
Pronouncing the order to grant anticipatory bail to her, Justice Krishna S. Dixit said women should not be arrested unnecessarily in criminal cases. The court further observed that it was not convinced by the claim by the state that she was not cooperating with the investigation, reported Bar and Bench.

The judge noted that she answered all the questions posed to her during the interrogation.
According to Bar and Bench, the court rejected the claim by the SIT that Bhavani Revanna tried to mislead the probe by giving wrong answers to the questions posed to her.
The SIT probing the case, while opposing the anticipatory bail plea, had alleged that Bhavani Revanna was the mastermind behind the abduction. The team had also claimed that she was in contact with several survivors of sexual assault by Prajwal Revanna.
“The investigation reveals that the petitioner was constantly monitoring the victims in order to cover up the allegations against her son who is accused of being a serial rapist and to protect him from being prosecuted for the sexual assaults committed by him,” Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Ravivarma Kumar had told the court.
