PM says preparations for J&K assembly polls have begun

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Centre will not hesitate to teach a lesson to enemies of Jammu and Kashmir and added the government is seriously concerned about recent terror attacks in the valley.

The prime minister, who reached Thursday for a two-day visit inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development works worth Rs 1,500 crore in Srinagar. Modi said the Centre views the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir seriously. Modi assured the people that permanent peace would be established in Jammu and Kashmir. “The government has taken the recent terror attacks very seriously. I assure you that we will not hesitate to teach a lesson to the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. 

Modi added, “The home minister held a meeting and reviewed the entire mechanism. I want to assure that we will leave no stone unturned to punish the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir," he said. 

Modi added assembly polls will be held soon in the union territory. “The preparations for the Assembly elections have started. The time is not far when you will elect the new government of Jammu and Kashmir with your votes. That day will also come soon, when Jammu and Kashmir will once again make its future better as a state,” ANI quoted him as saying.

The prime minister praised the youths of Jammu and Kashmir for the high turnout in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls and said they have ensured victory of democracy.

Modi said the wall of Article 370, which was scrapped in August 2019, collapsed and the fruits of the Indian Constitution ensured in Jammu and Kashmir. "Today the Indian Constitution has truly been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
