Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the International Yoga Day celebrations at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar on Friday.   Though the event was scheduled to be held on the lawns of the SKICC on the banks of the Dal Lake, it had to be shifted indoors due to incessant rain. 

Marking the 10th International Yoga Day fete, the Prime Minister urged everyone to make yoga part of their daily lives. "Yoga helps us realise that our welfare is related to the welfare of the world around us. World looking at Yoga as a power for global good," Modi said.  

"Yoga helps us live in the present moment without the baggage of the past," the prime minister said. "When we are peaceful within, we can also make a positive impact on the world...Yoga is making new ways of positive change in the society," he added.

Modi also highlighted the yoga economy thriving in the country. "Today, the world is seeing a new yoga economy going forward. In India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala, a new connection of Yoga tourism is being seen. Tourists from across the world are coming to India because they want to learn authentic yoga in India. People are even keeping personal Yoga trainers for their fitness. All of these have created new opportunities for the youth, new employment opportunities for youth," the Prime Minister said.
