The police arrested a class 9 student for allegedly stabbing his classmate inside a classroom in Odisha's Ganjam district on Saturday.
The incident happened on Friday morning at Raghunath High School of Ganjam's Ramchandrapur. The teenager, who had a knife in his school bag, attacked his classmate inside the classroom. There was no teacher when the incident took place, news agency PTI said.
Initially, it was assumed there was a possible romantic motive behind the attack. However, after probing further, students told the cops that the incident was sparked by sudden provocation, the news agency said.
The victim is now undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. His condition was stated to be stable.
The 14-year-old boy was apprehended after a case was registered against him following a complaint by headmaster.
