Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, an NDA ally, has written to his Telangana counterpart Revanth Reddy seeking a meeting. This comes three weeks after Naidu was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the fourth time.

Naidu's letter to Reddy proposed a face-to-face meeting on July 6 in Hyderabad to address unresolved bifurcation issues, a decade after the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh was divided into two states.

In the letter shared on X, the Andhra CM noted that many issues still need to be resolved according to the Reorganisation Act and these issues were hindering welfare and other matters in both states. "There have been multiple discussions concerning issues arising from the Reorganisation Act, which hold significant implications for the welfare and advancement of our states," said Naidu, stressing that it was incumbent upon the CMs of the Telugu-speaking states to foster close collaboration to ensure sustained progress and prosperity of both

Reddy himself had rang up Naidu on June 6, after the results were announced, to congratulate him and to express willingness to resolve pending issues between the two states.

The Lok Sabha passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014 on February 18, 2014, and the Rajya Sabha on February 20, 2014. Though it has been a decade since the bifurcation, many issues are still pending between the states, mainly due to court cases. These issues include power dues that they owe each other; bifurcation of 91 institutions, cash balance and bank deposits, division of assets, the establishment of a thermal power plant, a tribal university, road connectivity, and the sharing of Krishna and Godavari river waters.

Other issues include setting up an integrated steel plant at Bayyaram in the Khammam district of Telangana and a development grant for backward districts, which Telangana claims they haven't received.
